Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! Pumpkins, fun decor, costumes, haunted houses and scary movies?! Yes please! If you're in the mood to get spooked and need some killer (pun intended) scary movie recommendations, you're in the right place. These movies are NOT kid friendly, so make sure they are sleeping at grandma's house or are fast asleep before starting any of these. If you haven’t seen these yet, you’re in for a treat (and probably a few sleepless nights), what fun!

1. Classic Horror Movies

You can’t talk about scary movies without mentioning the OGs. Keep in mind, these are older, so the quality is not as good and might make them not as scary!

"Psycho" (1960)

The original slasher flick! That shower scene? Iconic. And don’t even get me started on the creepy vibe of Norman Bates.

"Halloween" (1978)

Michael Myers is basically the king of all silent, creepy killers. Throw in that haunting theme music, and you’ve got yourself a classic. If you start this one you might as well do a marathon and crush the other “30” movies that follow.

"Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984)

Freddy Krueger haunts you in your dreams, which makes this one extra creepy. Also, his glove? Super iconic.

2. Modern Scary Movies

Looking for something more recent? From supernatural scares to thought-provoking thrills, these are the ones people are still talking about.

"Get Out" (2017)

Jordan Peele’s genius blend of social commentary and horror. It’s unsettling and makes you think. Perfect combo, right?

"The Conjuring" (2013)

Haunted house vibes at their finest. Paranormal investigators, creepy dolls, and ghosts make this one a modern horror classic.

"It Follows" (2014)

The whole concept of being followed by something creepy, no matter how slow, is honestly so stressful. It’s simple but really effective!

3. Slasher Flicks

If your stomach can’t handle blood and gore, stay away from this next category!

"Scream" (1996)

This one is so fun because it’s self-aware. It makes fun of horror tropes while still delivering some solid scares. Plus, Ghostface is a horror icon and you can make a marathon out of it!

"Friday the 13th" (1980)

The whole "camp counselors getting picked off one by one" thing? Classic. Jason Voorhees is the ultimate slasher villain.

"The Strangers" (2008)

If you hate the idea of being home alone, this movie will freak you out. A couple is terrorized by masked strangers for no reason at all—yikes.

4. Supernatural Scares

If ghost stories, haunted houses, and creepy paranormal stuff are more your vibe, these movies will deliver the chills.

"The Ring" (2002)

A cursed videotape that kills you seven days after watching it. The creepy girl climbing out of the TV? A classic watch.

"The Others" (2001)

A super atmospheric ghost story with a killer twist at the end. It’s spooky without being over-the-top scary.

"Poltergeist" (1982)

A classic haunted house movie with plenty of creepy moments. “They’re heeere!”.

This list will definitely get you in the Halloween haunting mood! From creepy classics to modern mind-benders, horror movies are the perfect way to add a little adrenaline to your night. So grab your favorite snacks, dim the lights, and get ready for some serious frights.

Happy watching, and don’t say I didn’t warn you! 😱🎃
