It’s time to break out the romantic classics! This ones full of love, so if you or your significant other is pushing for an action-packed, jaw dropping mystery film, move along or save it for February 15th. All rom coms are welcome, but in case you’re not sure what to (I was going to say “pop in” here but I don’t think any of us still own a DVD player…) stream then look no further, here’s a list of some great go-tos!
1. The Notebook (2004)
Kicking off our list is the classic love story of Noah (Ryan Gosling) and Allie (Rachel McAdams). Watch as they navigate the challenges of love, separation, and the enduring power of memories. This emotionally charged film is a go-to choice for those who appreciate a good tearjerker. You will need tissues!
2. La La Land (2016)
Let's jump forward and throw in a modern musical that celebrates the magic of dreams and love, "La La Land" is the ideal pick. The film beautifully captures the romance between aspiring actress Mia (Emma Stone) and jazz musician Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), set against the vibrant backdrop of Los Angeles.
3. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
Might as well continue on the Ryan Gosling kick I have going on here and add in this TREASURE! I could watch this movie multiple times in a year. It’s a hilarious, feel good, love film and in my opinion, the most attractive I have ever seen Mr. Gosling. This movie goes through life of now divorced, over 40, Cal Weaver (Steve Carell) and his journey of re-entering the dating world with a self-styled player Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling). You’re welcome in advance.
4. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
Arguably one of the best rom coms out there, this movie follows the entertaining and often hilarious attempts of a journalist, Andie, trying to lose a guy in 10 days as part of a magazine assignment. With Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in the lead roles, it's a perfect choice for a light-hearted Valentine's Day movie night.
5. The Proposal (2009)
Adding a touch of workplace romance and unexpected love, "The Proposal" stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in a romantic comedy about a Canadian book editor who convinces her assistant to marry her to avoid deportation. The film is filled with comedic moments and genuine romance, making it a great addition to your Valentine's Day movie lineup.
6. Hitch (2005)
In case you’re struggling to find love in this crazy world, Hitch has got you covered. Will Smith and Eva Mendes are the perfect example of all of us trying to navigate dating and doing our best at finding the perfect person.
Whether you’re having a Galentine's with your best girlfriends or cozying up to your love, these movies make for the perfect night in! Get in cozy clothes, grab some popcorn and your fav red and pink treats (and possibly some tissues) and indulge in these classics. Happy Valentine's Day!
